Working in partnership with AllerGen NCE, the Asthma Society of Canada, Dr. Scott Tebbutt, UBC, Dr. Paul O'Bryne, Global Initiative for Asthma and Executive Director of St. Joseph's Healthcare, Firestone Institute for Respiratory Health, Hamilton, and several other key informants, an interactive, learning program, Optimizing Asthma Management: Getting it 'In Control' was developed. This cased-based learning module and associated practice tools help the busy primary care provider translate the latest guidelines from the Global Initiative on Asthma (GINA, 2008) and the Canadian Asthma Consensus Guidelines (2003) into practical ways to assess their patients' level of asthma control, manage their asthma to establish control, and monitor it to maintain control. Through interactive media and relevant case examples, the primary care provider is engaged with a review of the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and current management recommendations for asthma.

Optimizing Asthma Management: Getting It 'In Control'
Coming soon! This module is intended to provide you, the care provider, with a review of the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management of asthma as recommended by the Global Initiative on Asthma, Global Strategy for Asthma Management and Prevention, 2008. Different interactive media such as animations, illustrations, and interactive decision-aids support your understanding of the mechanism of asthma, the action of the current medical therapies, and the clinical guidelines for assessing and managing asthma by level of asthma control. Identifying when your patient’s asthma is not in ‘control’ and determining the best intervention for your patient, on an individual basis, is of vital importance.
